Sr. Accountant
Our client is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to support critical accounting and financial reporting functions during a contract leave of absence. This individual will work directly with leadership and take ownership of recurring financial reporting, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can quickly get up to speed, work independently with minimal supervision, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This is a highly visible role within the organization, requiring someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities under deadlines. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing monthly financial reporting packages, analyzing variances, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring critical reporting deadlines are met. While payroll exposure is helpful, the primary focus of the position is accounting, reporting, analysis, and ownership of day-to-day financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for 30+ entities and internal company reporting
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Analyze income statements, balance sheets, and financial results to identify and explain variances
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reporting
- Assist with payroll-related accounting activities (approximately 10% of the role)
- Maintain accurate general ledger activity and supporting documentation
- Utilize Excel to develop, maintain, and analyze financial reports
- Partner directly with leadership on ad hoc reporting and financial analysis
- Ensure reporting deadlines are met accurately and on time
- Assist with process improvements and reporting enhancements as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze and manipulate financial data
- Solid understanding of financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets
- Experience preparing financial reports and supporting day-to-day accounting operations
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Reliable and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with leadership and team members
Compensation
