Controller

We are looking for an experienced Controller to support financial operations for one of our clients in the Westchester County area. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can oversee core reporting activities, maintain compliance, and strengthen day-to-day finance processes. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage essential accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly close process, ensuring financial records are completed accurately and within established deadlines.

• Prepare and monitor budgets, analyze variances, and provide financial insight to support business decisions.

• Oversee payroll activities to help ensure employees are paid accurately and in compliance with applicable requirements.

• Manage sales tax processes, including review, reporting, and timely filing obligations.

• Support onboarding activities related to finance and payroll administration for new hires.

• Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures to improve accuracy, consistency, and compliance across financial operations.

• Produce financial reports and summaries for leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and performance updates.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or controllership roles.
• Demonstrated expertise with month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Experience handling payroll administration and related compliance responsibilities.
• Knowledge of sales tax reporting and filing practices.
• Ability to organize priorities effectively and manage multiple deadlines with accuracy.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills in a finance environment that requires attention to detail.

Compensation

$45.00-$50.00 Hourly
