The opportunity

FSI is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to help deliver an excellent team-member experience and support our business goals. Reporting to the HR Director, you will manage key HR operations—including benefits, retirement plans, leave administration, HR systems, reporting, compliance, and learning and development coordination.

This is an ideal opportunity for a collaborative, detail-oriented HR professional who enjoys solving problems, working with employees and leaders, and improving the systems that support an organization's people.

What you'll do

  • Administer health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs.
  • Respond to team-member questions and coordinate the resolution of benefits and program-administration issues.
  • Lead open enrollment planning, communications, and processing.
  • Process and maintain benefit deductions, contribution rates, and related employee data.
  • Reconcile invoices, support audits, and coordinate required reporting and data flow with Finance and Accounting.
  • Oversee leave administration and ensure required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Administer 401(k) enrollments, contributions, withdrawals, loans, repayments, updates, and asset transfers.
  • Support ERISA compliance and annual 401(k) nondiscrimination testing.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records and identify opportunities to improve processes and data integrity.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, analyses, audits, and reconciliations.
  • Apply company policies and practices consistently and equitably.
  • Help maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Coordinate learning and development programs, resources, and activities.
  • Support employee education and training and develop People & Culture presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Partner with HR colleagues and business leaders on organizational priorities and other key initiatives.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field—or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Four or more years of HR experience preferred.
  • Intermediate experience working with HRIS platforms.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Experience supporting unionized employees and working with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • An analytical mindset and the ability to identify trends and recommend practical solutions.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to positive teamwork.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; SharePoint experience is a plus.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or a comparable credential is preferred.

Work requirements

  • Occasional travel to other company locations may be required.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be needed based on business demands.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for off-site meetings and workplace visits; eligible travel expenses will be reimbursed.
  • The role requires the ability to work effectively in a compliance-sensitive environment, maintain focus, communicate clearly, follow established processes, respond promptly, and meet deadlines.
