Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Olathe, Kansas. This role is ideal for someone who can manage a busy transaction environment while maintaining accuracy across financial records and reporting. The successful candidate will contribute to day-to-day accounting activities, strengthen receivables processes, and use advanced Excel skills to improve efficiency and visibility.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to ensure financial activity is captured accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, reconciling balances, and resolving discrepancies.
• Oversee accounts receivable tasks, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and customer account follow-up.
• Manage business-to-business collections by communicating with clients, addressing outstanding balances, and supporting timely cash receipt.
• Handle a large volume of invoicing with close attention to detail, consistency, and turnaround time.
• Use Microsoft Excel to organize financial data, build formulas, and produce reports that support accounting review.
• Develop or apply VBA-based tools and spreadsheet enhancements to streamline repetitive accounting tasks.
• Assist with month-end activities by preparing supporting schedules and ensuring accounting records are complete and accurate.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting position.
• Strong working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and accounts receivable processes.
• Background in B2B collections and managing customer payment follow-up professionally and effectively.
• Ability to process high-volume invoicing accurately in a deadline-driven environment.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, data analysis, and spreadsheet management.
• Experience using Excel VBA to automate tasks or improve reporting workflows.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and accountability when handling financial information.

Compensation

$28.00-$33.00 Hourly
