Accounts Receivable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support retail finance operations for a Contract position based in Irvine, California. This role focuses on maintaining accurate receivables records, applying incoming payments, supporting customer billing activity, and following up on outstanding commercial balances. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment in collections, and the ability to keep cash flow processes organized and up to date.

Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day accounts receivable activity, ensuring customer balances are recorded accurately and updated in a timely manner.
• Apply incoming payments to the appropriate customer accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain clean financial records.
• Conduct commercial collections outreach through detail-oriented follow-up on overdue invoices and unresolved account balances.
• Prepare and process billing transactions while verifying supporting details for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor aging reports, identify past-due accounts, and escalate issues when payment delays require additional action.
• Reconcile customer accounts by researching short payments, unapplied cash, deductions, and other payment variances.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve invoice questions, payment disputes, and account-related exceptions.
• Maintain documentation for receivables activity, collection efforts, cash applications, and billing adjustments in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting accounts receivable functions in a detail-oriented business environment.
• Working knowledge of commercial collections practices and effective follow-up techniques.
• Hands-on experience with cash application and cash collections processes.
• Familiarity with billing procedures and invoice review for accuracy.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail when handling account transactions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on open items.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and internal stakeholders.

Compensation

$23.75-$25.00 Hourly
