Accounting Assistant

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support daily finance operations for a fully onsite team in Carlstadt, New Jersey. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling transactional accounting tasks, keeping records accurate, and contributing to an organized, fast-moving office environment. The role focuses on bookkeeping support, invoice and payment processing, and general administrative assistance within the accounting function.

Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices, enter payment-related details accurately, and respond to routine supplier inquiries.
• Record customer payments, update account information, and help keep receivable balances current.
• Perform high-volume data entry to maintain complete and accurate financial records.
• Assist with bookkeeping activities such as transaction tracking, account updates, and daily accounting support.
• Support bank reconciliation activities and help identify discrepancies in financial entries.
• Organize accounting files and documentation so records remain accessible, current, and audit-ready.
• Provide administrative assistance to the finance team and help manage day-to-day departmental tasks.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or a similar finance-related position.
• Practical working knowledge of QuickBooks in a business environment.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel for simple tracking and record maintenance.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoice coding.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across repetitive tasks.
• Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Comfortable working onsite in a fast-paced office setting.

Compensation

$19.79-$22.91 Hourly
