Legal Assistant
Location: Fort Lauderdale | Established Florida litigation practice
A well-established Florida litigation firm with multiple offices statewide is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with Insurance Defense experience. This role offers stability, flexibility, and the opportunity to support a busy litigation team in a collaborative, low-turnover environment.
The Role:
• Attorney calendar management and scheduling
• Litigation document drafting, proofreading, and formatting
• Court filings through Florida state and federal e-filing systems
• Billing, invoicing, and compliance with client guidelines
• Case management and litigation support portal updates
• Client communication and administrative support
Schedule & Flexibility:
• Core hours: 8:30am-5:00pm (flexible start times)
• Hybrid consideration after 90 days
Compensation:
• $70,000-$80,000 base salary (DOE)
• Discretionary year-end bonus with longevity component
Ideal Background:
• 3+ years of legal assistant experience in Insurance Defense
• Medical malpractice or healthcare defense experience preferred
• Experience with Florida court filings and litigation procedures
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
• Detail oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing deadlines

Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience in a paralegal or legal assistant role supporting insurance defense matters.• Working knowledge of civil litigation procedures, including discovery support and trial preparation.
• Experience handling electronic filings in Florida state and federal courts.
• Proficiency with case management software and the ability to maintain accurate matter records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and a dependable approach to deadline-driven work.
• Prior exposure to medical malpractice or healthcare defense matters is preferred.
Compensation
