Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is seeking to hire a Research Technologist I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Studies complexes involved in the repair of mitochondrial DNA via the base excision repair pathway.
  • Utilizes both biochemical and biophysical approaches to study the complexes formed during the base excision pathway to the mitochondria.
  • Performs various techniques including in vitro protein purification, binding activity, repair assays, multi-angle light scattering, X-ray crystallography, and SAXS.
  • Assists new post-doctoral research fellows and graduate assistant students in their projects as needed.
  • Collects data and prepares reports of findings.
  • Follows appropriate safety procedures for handling biohazardous and highly toxic substances.
  • Maintains laboratory inventory, orders supplies as needed, and keeps lab in an orderly manner.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
