Fortis Native Group is hiring a full-time General Maintenance Worker for our Southern California contract supporting NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO. The General Maintenance Worker performs preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, and work orders on facility buildings, including HVAC equipment, roll-up doors, fire protection systems, generators, pumps, motors, lighting, and related equipment. This position supports daily facility operations by responding to service calls, completing scheduled maintenance, maintaining work order documentation, and ensuring all work is performed safely in accordance with company policies and contract requirements.
Job duties will include but may not be limited to the following:
- Performs repairs, preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, Roll up door systems, Fire protection, Generators and equipment including; pumps, blowers, and motors
- Maintains pumps, electrical controls and related components, facilities and related equipment, and interior and exterior Lighting
- Perform work orders on facility's buildings as required
- Makes equipment adjustments
- Maintains computerized and manual records and prepares reports pertaining to the operation of the daily work orders, and makes changes as required to meet operating requirements.
- Identifies, schedules and coordinates the work to support the facility(s) as needed.
- Follows Company's Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies. Wear and work in proper personal protective equipment.
- Assists with operational tasks in conjunction with operation or as directed by supervisor
- Performs other related functions assigned, as they become apparent, or as management assigns
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Additional trade specific courses preferred
- Five (5) years' experience in the maintenance field
Licenses & Certifications:
- Must possess a valid, active state driver's license.
- Must pass drug screening and background checks
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of mechanical operations, maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical systems related to equipment in assigned work area.
- Knowledge of proper operation of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations. OSHA 10
- Effectively and safely operates hand tools, pneumatic tools, air compressors and other small equipment related to the maintenance trades.
- Hands-on experience in light duty electrical power systems (240 V/ single and three phase) and instrumentation calibration
Work Environment:
- Employee may be required to work indoor or outdoor work during seasonal heat and cold or other adverse weather conditions. Employee may be required to work where they may be regularly exposed to fumes, dust and odors.
- Some high noise levels from operations of equipment.
- Must be physically able to complete necessary tasks as related to the maintenance
- May have to work after normal work hours for on-call assignments.
