Position Description
Employees in this classification provide support in an assigned research laboratory performing laboratory experiments and procedures. Assists with the development of new procedures and techniques to be utilized within the laboratory. Performs other functional duties such as maintenance of the laboratory and laboratory equipment and supplies. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards maybe present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances. Assists in training and direction of subordinate personnel.

- Support team members
- Curate data and conduct experiments and data searches
- Bacterial culturing, Gram staining, biochemical and ATP assays, antibiotic susceptibility testing, immunodiffusion, and blood cell analysis
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma; college work in one of the sciences or education/experience to equal 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in molecular and genetic biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR/RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, restriction digestion, ligation, and gene expression analysis.
- Training in immunology and microbiology methods, including bacterial culturing, Gram staining, biochemical and ATP assays, antibiotic susceptibility testing, immunodiffusion, and blood cell analysis.
- Background in animal cell and tissue culture, including work with cell lines, primary cultures, transfections, cytotoxicity assays, micropropagation, and callus induction.
