Bookkeeper

We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a contracting company in College Point, New York on a short-term Contract assignment. This position is suited for someone who can independently oversee day-to-day accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, and support reliable reporting for project-based operations. The ideal candidate brings experience in construction accounting and can help strengthen accounting workflows while making effective use of Sage 100.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the complete bookkeeping cycle, including recording transactions, maintaining ledgers, and keeping financial data current and accurate.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring invoices, payments, and collections are handled in a timely manner.
• Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate balances.
• Prepare financial reports that support business decision-making and provide clear visibility into company performance.
• Track project-related expenses and job costs to help monitor profitability across construction work.
• Use Sage 100 and QuickBooks to maintain accounting records, improve reporting accuracy, and support efficient daily operations.
• Organize accounting documentation and help establish consistent procedures that improve structure within the finance function.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in bookkeeping with the ability to manage accounting activities with minimal supervision.
• Background in construction accounting, including familiarity with project costing and related financial tracking.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation processes.
• Working knowledge of Sage 100 and QuickBooks in a business accounting environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial records and reports.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a short-term Contract role.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders as needed.

Compensation

$42.75-$49.50 Hourly
