Staff Accountant

Compensation: $66 Yearly

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations and help maintain accurate financial records for the organization in New York, New York. This role is well suited for someone who is comfortable working across routine accounting activities, month-end tasks, and financial documentation while partnering with internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings a solid grounding in accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain general ledger activity and ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with established accounting standards.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Review financial data for completeness and investigate discrepancies to help preserve the integrity of accounting records.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including transaction verification, posting activity, and resolving routine issues.
• Prepare reports and documentation requested for audits, compliance reviews, and internal financial analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather accounting information, clarify variances, and improve reporting accuracy.
• Monitor assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts and follow up on outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Contribute to process improvements within accounting workflows and assist with operational changes or system-related updates when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and standard financial reporting practices.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting close activities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting systems used for day-to-day financial operations.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordination with internal teams.
• Ability to analyze transactional data, identify inconsistencies, and resolve issues efficiently.

Compensation

$66,000.00-$66,500.00 Yearly
