Payroll Manager
Responsibilities:
• Direct end-to-end payroll activities for multiple entities and business lines, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
• Create and refine payroll policies, internal controls, and standardized procedures to improve consistency across the organization.
• Oversee prevailing wage administration and certified payroll reporting for public works and other contract-driven projects.
• Monitor payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including California wage and hour requirements and government contract obligations.
• Manage payroll tax activities, quarter-end and year-end processing, and W-2 preparation to support accurate regulatory reporting.
• Act as the internal expert for ADP Workforce Now, enhancing system setup, reporting, automation, and overall payroll workflow efficiency.
• Partner with external vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues, implement system improvements, and support future integrations.
• Lead payroll due diligence and onboarding efforts for acquired businesses, including process alignment, platform conversion, and post-integration stabilization.
• Collaborate with Accounting on reconciliations, accruals, labor allocations, job costing, close activities, and payroll reporting for leadership review.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll in a multi-entity and multi-state environment.• Strong working knowledge of prevailing wage rules and certified payroll reporting requirements.
• Hands-on expertise with ADP Workforce Now and payroll system optimization.
• Solid understanding of payroll tax reporting, year-end processes, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Familiarity with California payroll compliance, including wage and hour requirements.
• Ability to analyze payroll operations, identify process improvements, and implement scalable solutions.
• Experience partnering with Accounting or Finance on reconciliations, reporting, and job costing activities.
Compensation
