Accounts Receivable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a team in Romeoville, Illinois in a contract-to-permanent role. This position is centered on high-volume billing and accounts receivable support, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, organization, and timely invoice processing. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling recurring billing tasks, applying payments, and supporting sales tax documentation while working closely with internal teams.

Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day accounts receivable activities with a primary focus on billing accuracy and timely processing.
• Prepare, review, and distribute a high volume of customer invoices each week, generally ranging from 200 to 250 invoices.
• Maintain invoice records by updating billing details, verifying supporting data, and ensuring documentation is complete.
• Apply incoming payments and assist with routine bank deposit activities to keep account balances current.
• Support sales tax compliance efforts by requesting and tracking resale or tax exemption certificates from customers.
• Use accounting software, including Microsoft Dynamics Business Central when applicable, to process transactions and maintain records.
• Communicate with internal sales teams to resolve billing questions and gather information needed for accurate invoicing.
• Perform basic spreadsheet tasks in Excel to review data, organize billing information, and support reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of accounts receivable experience in a billing-focused position.

• Ability to manage a high-volume invoicing workload with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Experience with accounting systems; exposure to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is preferred.

• Basic Excel skills, including the ability to work with simple spreadsheets and organize financial information.

• Familiarity with cash applications, bank deposits, and general accounts receivable procedures.

• Understanding of sales tax documentation, including experience requesting or maintaining exemption certificates, is helpful.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams while handling minimal direct customer interaction.

The salary range for this position is $25.00 to $28.00 an hour. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
