Property Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support day-to-day and monthly accounting activities for a real estate portfolio in Washington, District of Columbia. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong experience in property accounting, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and can maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities. The role will focus on financial reporting, account reconciliation, and close processes while using Yardi to manage property-level accounting operations.

Responsibilities:
• Manage property-level accounting activities, including journal entries, account analysis, and maintenance of the general ledger.
• Complete month-end close tasks on schedule and prepare supporting schedules to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain clean and reliable financial records.
• Record accruals and other adjusting entries in accordance with established accounting standards and reporting timelines.
• Produce recurring financial statements and property reports for internal stakeholders and management review.
• Use Yardi software to process accounting transactions, review property financial data, and support reporting needs.
• Collaborate with operations, asset management, and other internal teams to resolve accounting issues and clarify financial activity.
• Assist with audit requests and provide documentation related to property transactions, reconciliations, and account balances.

Qualifications:

• Experience in property accounting with a strong understanding of real estate financial operations.
• Proficiency with Yardi software for accounting, reporting, and property-level financial management.
• Solid knowledge of month-end close procedures, including reconciliations and adjusting entries.
• Working understanding of accrual accounting principles and general ledger maintenance.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and analyze account activity with close attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.

Compensation

$24.70-$28.60 Hourly
