Surgery Scheduler
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate surgical appointments by aligning physician availability, facility calendars, and patient needs to ensure timely scheduling.
• Communicate with patients to review procedure dates, preparation steps, and required documentation before surgery.
• Verify medical insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations when needed, and confirm coverage for scheduled procedures.
• Maintain accurate scheduling records and update patient information within Epic EMR and related systems.
• Work closely with surgeons, clinical staff, and external facilities to resolve scheduling conflicts and support smooth case coordination.
• Track pending items such as referrals, approvals, and clinical documentation to prevent delays in the surgical timeline.
• Respond to patient and staff inquiries regarding appointments, procedure logistics, and scheduling changes in a clear and organized manner.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience scheduling surgeries or complex medical appointments in a healthcare setting.• Working knowledge of insurance verification processes, including benefit review and authorization support.
• Proficiency using Epic EMR for scheduling, documentation, and patient record management.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines accurately.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills when working with patients, providers, and payer representatives.
• Ability to handle sensitive health information with professionalism and confidentiality.
Compensation
