Medical Records Clerk
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to support the accurate maintenance, organization, and processing of patient health information for a healthcare organization in Newark, Delaware. This role is responsible for ensuring medical records are complete, secure, and accessible while supporting daily administrative and compliance-related functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, organize, and update patient medical records in electronic and paper filing systems
- Retrieve, scan, index, and file medical documents accurately and in a timely manner
- Review records for completeness, accuracy, and required documentation
- Process requests for medical records in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies
- Always protect the confidentiality and security of patient health information
- Assist with chart preparation, record audits, and document tracking
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding records status and documentation procedures
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to obtain missing or incomplete information
- Support data entry and records management within the electronic medical records system
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational record retention requirements
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of experience in medical records, health information management, healthcare administration, or a related role preferred
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and medical terminology preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry systems
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
Compensation
