Senior Accountant
We are partnering with a well-established and growing organization in the heart of Denver, CO, seeking a Senior Accountant (Fixed Assets) to join its collaborative and high-performing accounting team. Key Responsibilities:
- Review repair and maintenance and construction-in-progress (CIP) activity to ensure proper accounting treatment, identify necessary adjustments, and prepare reclassification entries as needed.
- Perform detailed reviews of construction-in-progress reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting policies.
- Prepare accruals for construction-related expenditures and repair and maintenance invoices not yet received, ensuring expenses are recorded in the appropriate reporting period.
- Analyze income statement accounts to identify required accruals and prepare associated journal entries.
- Prepare additional journal entries and account adjustments as necessary to support an accurate and timely month-end close.
- Complete reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.
- Support the monthly close process, including general ledger maintenance, financial analysis, and preparation of accounting schedules.
- Execute day-to-day accounting activities in accordance with established standard operating procedures, internal controls, and company policies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen controls.
Qualifications:
The ideal Senior Accountant will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 2-4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting responsibilities.
- Experience with fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, fixed asset reconciliations, and asset tracking.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to analyze transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting accurate and timely month-end close processes.
- CPA designation or a foundation in public accounting/audit is preferred.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments in a fast-paced environment.
