OpenShift Platform Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior OpenShift/Kubernetes Platform Engineer to help design, build, and evolve their enterprise container platform. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on platform architecture, automation, and modernization rather than day-to-day operational support.
This individual will lead the design and implementation of OpenShift and Kubernetes capabilities across on-premises and future cloud environments, helping establish a scalable, secure, and resilient platform for modern application deployment. The role offers significant influence in shaping the organization's container strategy and future Azure cloud direction.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and implement OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms
- Lead cluster architecture, deployment, and platform engineering initiatives
- Develop infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and related technologies
- Partner with infrastructure, application, security, and architecture teams to establish platform standards and best practices
- Drive container adoption and cloud-native application strategies
- Define platform governance, security, scalability, and resiliency standards
- Create roadmaps for platform growth, modernization, and future cloud integration
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to internal teams
- Establish high-availability, disaster recovery, and operational frameworks for containerized workloads
Interested candidates should submit resumes to sally.lander@roberthalf.(com).
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of infrastructure, platform engineering, or cloud engineering experience
- 3+ years of hands-on OpenShift and/or Kubernetes design and implementation experience
- Strong experience building enterprise container platforms, not just administering them
- Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Helm
- Strong understanding of networking, container security, and enterprise infrastructure architecture
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
- Experience developing CI/CD, GitOps, or cloud-native deployment practices
- Ability to influence technical direction and collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders
Preferred
- Azure cloud experience
- OpenShift certifications
- ArgoCD or GitOps experience
- Multi-cluster Kubernetes environments
- Experience leading cloud transformation or platform modernization initiatives
This role is ideal for someone who has designed and built OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms and wants the opportunity to influence long-term platform and cloud strategy.
