Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a leading organization in the Energy sector in Dallas, Texas. This Long-term Contract position will play a key role in monthly close activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support while helping maintain accurate, compliant accounting records. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to manage detailed accounting work in a fast-paced environment. This is a 12 month project, working a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record complex journal entries to ensure accurate monthly financial results.
• Complete detailed account and bank reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Coordinate and support the month-end close process to meet reporting deadlines and maintain ledger integrity.
• Develop, maintain, and distribute accounting schedules and financial reports across multiple areas of responsibility.
• Compile and analyze supporting documentation for regulatory filings, audits, and other internal or external information requests.
• Verify that financial transactions are properly documented and aligned with applicable accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Document accounting procedures and internal controls, evaluate their effectiveness, and recommend process improvements where needed.
• Assist with accounting system enhancements, provide end-user support, and help train stakeholders on financial tools and processes.
• Offer guidance to team members and respond to requests from internal and external business partners as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with at least 4 years of accounting experience; equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and investigating variances across financial records.
• Ability to prepare and review detailed financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation with a high level of accuracy.
• Familiarity with audit support activities and responding to data requests tied to compliance or regulatory matters.
• Knowledge of accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial documentation standards.
• Certification such as CPA is preferred.
