Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in Bergen County, New Jersey. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly close activities, and helping ensure reliable reporting across multiple entities and projects. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with internal teams to review financial activity, verify accuracy, and support timely reporting across the organization.
• Contribute to month-end close by preparing financial statement support, completing general ledger reconciliations, and posting journal entries.
• Oversee daily cash activity, including monitoring balances, initiating transfers, and recording incoming payments.
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations while investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Coordinate with accounts payable to confirm invoices are coded correctly, assigned to the proper job costs, and processed on schedule.
• Support construction-related accounting tasks such as accounts receivable draw documentation, lien waiver administration, percentage-of-completion reporting, and project closeout activities.
• Prepare payroll-related entries, enter original budgets and cost codes, and review transactions involving multiple companies or entities.
• Assist with due diligence forms for new projects, cost certification audits, insurance audit documentation, and requests from external auditors or accountants.
• Help improve accounting workflows and reporting processes by supporting the implementation and effective use of financial systems and software.
• Provide accounting support to project management and contracts teams and contribute to additional assignments as business needs require.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of bank reconciliations, cash management, and financial reporting practices.
• Familiarity with construction accounting principles is preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and general computer applications; experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating well with cross-functional teams.
• Sound decision-making skills and the ability to deliver accurate work under deadline-driven conditions.
Compensation
