Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Waltham, Massachusetts. This role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing cash activity, and contributing to month-end close while partnering with teams across accounting and finance. The ideal candidate brings strong reconciliation experience, sound judgment when investigating discrepancies, and confidence working with large data sets in Excel.
Responsibilities:
• Perform detailed cash and account reconciliations, identify variances, and independently investigate outstanding items to resolution.
• Develop and maintain a rolling cash flow report to support short-term financial planning and visibility.
• Record cash activity, code credit card transactions accurately, and ensure supporting entries are posted in a timely manner.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy through consistent review and correction of financial data.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations, supporting schedules, and deadline-driven reporting tasks.
• Provide additional accounts receivable and collections support by following up on open balances and helping improve cash recovery.
• Extract, organize, and analyze financial information in Excel to identify trends, reconcile large data sets, and support decision-making.
• Work within Intacct to manage accounting records, complete transactions, and support ongoing financial operations.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience with month-end close in a senior accounting or similar accounting role.• Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and financial statement support.
• Hands-on experience completing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to research discrepancies independently, evaluate supporting documentation, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Advanced Excel skills with experience pulling, organizing, and analyzing large volumes of financial data.
• Background in cash management, including cash entries, forecasting support, and transaction review.
• Exposure to FP& A concepts or cash flow analysis is highly valued.
• Experience using Intacct or a comparable accounting system is preferred.
