Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a manufacturing organization. This contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage payables accurately, support financial controls, and work effectively with both vendors and internal teams. The role contributes to smooth day-to-day finance operations by ensuring invoices, reimbursements, and payments are processed in a timely and compliant manner.

Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices by reviewing documentation, confirming accuracy, and assigning the correct general ledger coding before entry.
• Manage payment activity through electronic disbursements, check runs, and ACH transactions while maintaining proper backup and approvals.
• Examine employee expense submissions to verify receipts, coding, and policy compliance prior to reimbursement.
• Maintain organized accounts payable records, including vendor profiles, transaction history, and supporting financial documentation.
• Partner with accounting and operational teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure expenses are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end close by assisting with reconciliations, audit preparation, and related reporting tasks.
• Perform three-way matching when required to confirm alignment between purchase orders, receipts, and invoices.
• Assist with credit card reconciliation and prepare journal entries related to accounts payable activity as needed.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting function.
• Hands-on ability with invoice coding, account coding, and full-cycle accounts payable processing.
• Experience handling ACH payments, check runs, and other standard payment methods.
• Familiarity with expense report review, credit card reconciliation, and supporting journal entries.
• Working knowledge of three-way matching and invoice verification procedures.
• Proficiency with accounting software and standard office applications used for financial processing.
• Strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Compensation

$20.90-$24.20 Hourly
