Cost Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Analyze manufacturing cost activity to ensure labor, material, and overhead are recorded accurately and reported in a timely manner.
• Prepare cost reports and variance analyses that highlight performance trends, production inefficiencies, and areas requiring financial review.
• Apply over-time and completed-contract accounting treatment appropriately based on the nature of products and services provided.
• Support revenue and cost recognition in alignment with ASC 606, contractual terms, and applicable shipping considerations such as Incoterms.
• Review production orders, bills of materials, and inventory transactions to confirm the integrity of standard and actual cost data.
• Partner with operations and finance teams to monitor inventory movements, cycle counts, and physical inventory results, resolving discrepancies when identified.
• Maintain and refine standard costing processes to improve visibility into product profitability and manufacturing performance.
• Assist with monthly and year-end close activities related to inventory valuation, cost allocations, and manufacturing financial reporting.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.• Demonstrated experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, manufacturing cost flows, and cost analysis principles.
• Working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting, completed-contract accounting, and ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Familiarity with production orders, bills of materials, cycle counting, and physical inventory procedures.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data to identify variances and support decision-making.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet-based financial analysis tools.
Compensation
