Dispatcher

We are looking for a Dispatcher to support daily transportation operations in Virginia. This contract to hire position focuses on maintaining clear, timely communication with drivers, resolving day-to-day concerns, and helping keep routes running smoothly. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing a high volume of driver interactions, using messaging tools efficiently, and handling administrative tasks with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the main point of contact for a group of approximately 35 to 50 drivers, providing timely support throughout the workday.

• Respond to driver questions related to route challenges, safety matters, and payroll-related concerns to help maintain smooth operations.

• Use messaging platforms as the primary communication method while handling phone conversations as needed for urgent or complex issues.

• Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to address service disruptions and keep driver communication accurate and consistent.

• Track and document driver interactions, updates, and follow-up items using office software and internal dispatch tools.

• Assist with day-to-day dispatch activities that support transportation workflows and driver readiness.

• Monitor incoming issues from drivers and escalate concerns appropriately when additional operational support is required

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in dispatching is required, with trucking or transportation dispatch experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage communication with a high volume of drivers in a fast-paced operations environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and confidence working in computer-based systems throughout the day.
• Strong written communication skills, especially in message-based conversations with drivers and internal teams.
• Customer service experience with the ability to remain detail oriented and solution-oriented under pressure.
• Understanding of logistics coordination and the ability to prioritize multiple issues at once.

Compensation

$20.00-$23.00 Hourly
