Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a manufacturing organization in Bergen County, New Jersey. This role is focused on maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure financial results are recorded accurately and on schedule.

• Maintain the general ledger by analyzing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and supporting the integrity of financial data across reporting periods.

• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support, ensuring accounting records reflect business activity in accordance with company policy.

• Perform account reconciliations on a recurring basis, investigate variances, and take corrective action to keep balances accurate and current.

• Complete bank reconciliations by matching cash activity, identifying outstanding items, and following up on unusual transactions.

• Partner with internal teams to gather financial information, clarify accounting treatment, and support reporting needs.

• Assist with documentation and process improvements that strengthen controls and improve the efficiency of routine accounting tasks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior-level accounting role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in month-end close procedures and general ledger management.
• Proven ability to prepare journal entries and complete detailed account reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience performing bank reconciliations and researching variances.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet recurring deadlines.

Compensation

$110,000.00-$125,000.00 Yearly
