Financial Planning & Analysis Manager
Responsibilities:
• Direct the annual budgeting cycle by coordinating planning materials, compiling input from multiple departments, and evaluating results against targets.
• Build and enhance sophisticated financial models that guide strategic planning, scenario evaluation, and long-range decision support within a regulated utility environment.
• Produce forward-looking forecasts using multiple assumptions to assess financial performance, potential risks, and business opportunities.
• Analyze operating and financial results to uncover trends, explain variances, and recommend practical actions to senior leadership.
• Prepare and deliver management reporting that highlights key metrics, business drivers, and performance insights for executive review.
• Partner with teams across the organization, including operations, legal, and regulatory affairs, to ensure financial plans reflect current business priorities and obligations.
• Strengthen planning processes by identifying inefficiencies, refining methodologies, and introducing best practices that improve accuracy and timeliness.
• Monitor financial planning activities for compliance with applicable regulations, internal standards, and relevant accounting frameworks.
• Lead, coach, and develop FP& A staff by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and supporting career growth.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related discipline; equivalent education and experience may also be considered.• At least 5 years of experience in financial modeling, preferably within the utilities or electric utility sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and long-range financial planning.
• Familiarity with financial planning systems, enterprise business platforms, and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory accounting practices as they relate to planning and reporting.
• Understanding of utility regulatory environments and rate-making concepts.
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and present financial information clearly.
• Certifications such as CPA or a corporate FP& A credential are preferred.
Compensation
