Property Accountant

A well-established commercial real estate owner and operator is seeking a Property Accountant to join its team. The company manages a portfolio of commercial properties throughout the western suburbs of the Chicago metropolitan area and is committed to providing responsive management, maintaining an uncompromising standard of excellence, and conducting business with the highest level of integrity.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team on either a full-time or part-time basis. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service to tenants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices
- Process, print, and mail payments
- Ensure vendor insurance certificates are current
- Prepare and submit annual 1099 filings
Accounts Receivable
- Enter tenant payments and record online payments
- Prepare and distribute tenant statements and invoices
- Respond to tenant financial inquiries
- Reconcile and prepare real estate tax and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) billings
- Monitor and collect delinquent accounts
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Assist with budget preparation
- Complete month-end close procedures
Tenant Records & Lease Administration
- Enter and maintain lease and tenant records
- Process tenant move-ins and move-outs
- Maintain accurate tenant information within Yardi

Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Yardi experience required
- Previous property accounting experience required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Degree in Accounting or related field is a plus, but not required
- Construction accounting experience is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Compensation
