Human Resources (HR) Generalist

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Generalist to provide hands-on HR support for a multi-site operation in Temecula, California. This Contract position will oversee day-to-day human resources activities, strengthen hiring practices, and guide managers through employee relations matters with sound judgment and consistency. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of California employment practices and can build practical HR processes that support compliance, documentation, and workforce stability.

Responsibilities:
• Manage full-cycle recruitment for non-executive openings across three locations, from sourcing talent through offer coordination.
• Create and refine hiring workflows that improve efficiency, strengthen candidate evaluation, and shorten overall time-to-fill.
• Identify, assess, and help secure management-level talent while supporting long-term succession planning for essential operational roles.
• Lead employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and resolution of performance or conduct concerns.
• Advise supervisors on how to address team issues appropriately, applying policy consistently and reducing avoidable escalations.
• Maintain accurate personnel records and oversee HR documentation to support compliance with California wage and hour requirements.
• Administer workers’ compensation cases and employee leave programs, including protected leave and other absence-related processes.
• Establish standardized onboarding and performance documentation practices, and deliver training that helps managers follow HR best practices.
• Partner with the Controller to ensure payroll-related employee data is accurate while keeping payroll processing responsibilities separate.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of human resources experience, with a strong progression into independent generalist or leadership-level responsibilities.
• Background supporting HR operations across multiple locations; hospitality, hotel, or restaurant group experience is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage employee relations issues independently, including investigations, corrective action, and manager coaching.
• Strong working knowledge of California labor and employment law, including wage and hour compliance requirements.
• Experience administering workers’ compensation, leave of absence programs, and related documentation.
• Proven success recruiting both hourly employees and management-level candidates.
• Familiarity with onboarding programs, HR administration, benefits-related functions, and HRIS tools.
• Comfortable working in entrepreneurial or founder-led environments where practical judgment and initiative are essential.

Compensation

$28.50-$30.00 Hourly
