IT Security Specialist

We are looking for an IT Security Specialist to help protect critical systems, information assets, and digital operations in Chicago, Illinois. This role focuses on strengthening security practices, supporting data protection efforts, and helping the organization maintain a strong governance framework. The ideal candidate brings a practical understanding of cybersecurity controls, database protection, and privacy standards, along with the ability to work effectively across technical environments.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor security controls and identify risks that could affect systems, databases, and sensitive files
• Develop and support safeguards that protect business information and improve overall cybersecurity posture
• Review access, permissions, and data handling practices to promote compliance with privacy and governance standards
• Investigate security issues, document findings, and recommend corrective actions to reduce future exposure
• Partner with technical teams to strengthen database security and improve protection of critical digital assets
• Maintain security documentation, procedures, and reports to support audits and ongoing risk management

Qualifications:

• Experience working in information security, cybersecurity, or a related technical security role
• Knowledge of data privacy principles and practices for protecting sensitive information
• Familiarity with database security concepts, including access control and data protection measures
• Understanding of cyber governance frameworks, policies, and risk management processes
• Ability to assess security concerns involving computer files, systems, and digital records
• Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to explain security recommendations clearly

Compensation

$140,000.00-$155,000.00 Yearly
