Human Resources (HR) Manager

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to support a dynamic workforce in Watsonville, California. This Long-term Contract position will oversee core HR activities across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee relations, seasonal workforce changes, and general people support. The role also works closely with employees in both office and field settings, requiring strong communication, sound judgment, and a practical understanding of workers’ compensation and safety practices.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring hiring documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide day-to-day human resources guidance to employees and managers on workplace matters, policies, and general HR questions.
• Support employee relations efforts by addressing concerns, helping resolve issues, and promoting a respectful work environment.
• Assist with seasonal workforce reductions and rehiring activities, including communication and administrative coordination during off-season changes.
• Monitor and help manage workers’ compensation cases, maintaining appropriate documentation and following established procedures.
• Coordinate and reinforce basic safety training efforts to support compliance and employee awareness.
• Maintain organized employee records and update HR information within internal systems and related documentation tools.
• Build strong working relationships with employees across office and field environments through regular interaction and responsive support.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of human resources experience, preferably in an agricultural or similarly fast-paced workforce environment.
• Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish are required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Hands-on experience with employee relations, HR administration, and onboarding processes.
• Working knowledge of workers’ compensation practices and general safety training support.
• Familiarity with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Word.
• Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain accurate employee records.

Compensation

$30.00-$35.00 Hourly
