Tax Collector

We are looking for a Tax Collector to support a non-profit organization in Brunswick, Maine. This is a Contract position focused on assisting community members with tax-related submissions, responding to in-person inquiries, and helping maintain accurate records. The ideal candidate brings patience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to manage a steady flow of administrative tasks in an on-site setting.

Responsibilities:
• Assist visitors in person with tax-related questions, forms, and general service needs in a courteous and attentive manner.
• Review and process mailed tax documents, ensuring records are complete, organized, and routed appropriately.
• Maintain accurate administrative files and update information carefully to support reliable tax collection activities.
• Respond to a consistent volume of public inquiries while providing clear guidance and a positive customer experience.
• Support clerical functions tied to credit and collections-related processes as needed within the department.
• Verify submitted information for accuracy and follow established procedures when handling applications and supporting documentation.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a clerk, administrative support, credit, collections, or related office-based role.
• Strong customer service skills with the patience to assist individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
• Ability to manage in-person interactions and mailed documentation with accuracy and professionalism.
• Comfortable working on site in Brunswick, Maine.
• Solid attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Effective communication skills and a dependable, organized approach to daily tasks.

Compensation

$19.00-$22.00 Hourly
