HR Administrator
Robert Half is working with a well-established and mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Administrator to help support the HR team for a few months so they can get caught up. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working with HR systems, employee data, compliance, and process improvement in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with experience managing employee lifecycle transactions, maintaining HR data integrity, and supporting HR operations within California employment regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle Administration
- Process and review high-volume employee lifecycle transactions, including hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, and terminations.
- Ensure the accuracy of employee records, job codes, departments, cost centers, and position data within the HRIS.
- Review HR transactions for completeness and compliance before approval.
- Serve as a resource for managers and employees regarding HR workflows, policies, and system-related questions.
HRIS Administration & Data Management
- Maintain accurate employee data across HR systems while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
- Perform regular audits to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
- Generate reports and analyze workforce data to support business and HR decision-making.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and system integrity.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain personnel records in accordance with California employment laws and organizational policies.
- Support internal, external, state, and grant-related audits.
- Ensure HR documentation meets regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Assist with employment verification, record retention, and documentation requests.
Process Improvement & HR Operations
- Support the migration of manual HR processes into automated workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and the overall employee experience.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, templates, and training materials.
- Assist with special HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Payroll and Benefits teams to ensure timely and accurate employee updates.
- Coordinate HR changes to align with payroll processing schedules.
- Support organization-wide HR initiatives and reporting needs.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources Administration or HRIS experience.
- Experience supporting California employment practices and HR compliance.
- Experience working in nonprofit, healthcare, education, or other regulated environments is highly preferred.
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) is a plus.
- Experience working within an HRIS or HCM platform (UKG Ready experience strongly preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and reporting.
- Experience managing high-volume HR transactions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Compensation
