Payroll & Finance Associate
About the role
Agile Partnering is a fast-growing back office, EOR, and funding partner helping staffing firms across the U.S. and Canada scale with less stress. As a Payroll and Finance Associate, you'll play a critical part in that growth, working closely alongside our finance lead to keep payroll, invoicing, and financial operations running accurately and on time as we continue to scale rapidly.
This is a full-time, remote position on a small, flat team where the work is fast-paced and the responsibility is real: what you do directly supports the people and companies who depend on us.
What you'll do
- Manage timesheet entry and queue up payroll for both W2/T4 employees and independent contractors across the US and Canada — owning the process end-to-end rather than one narrow piece of it
- Review payroll for accuracy and completeness before it goes out the door
- Review and send client invoices, and coordinate the monthly benefits invoice audit
- Respond to worker payroll inquiries in real time — when something comes up, you'll pivot and handle it rather than letting it sit in a queue
- Take on ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as they come up, adapting as the company continues to scale
What we're looking for
- 2–6 years of payroll, invoicing, or back-office finance experience in a fast-paced, professional office environment.
- You bring genuine grit - a willingness to roll up your sleeves, dive into a new challenge, and figure things out rather than waiting to be told exactly what to do
- You're detail-oriented and accurate under time pressure - a "hurry up, but get it right" mentality, since payroll leaves no room for small mistakes
- You take ownership. This isn't a role where work sits in a queue until tomorrow; when something comes up, you pivot and handle it. We're looking for someone who's energized by that kind of responsibility, not overwhelmed by it
- Ideally, experience that spans more of the payroll process rather than one narrow piece of it; we're looking for someone who has been genuinely accountable for getting people paid accurately.
- You thrive in lean, white-collar environments; small to mid-sized, fast-moving companies rather than large, siloed ones.
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment, with minimal oversight needed to stay on track
- You're proficient in Excel and pick up new systems and software quickly
- You communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in conversation
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required; we care more about whether you understand core payroll and finance
concepts and terminology than where you learned them
Nice to have
- Experience in the technology or finance sectors
- A Bachelor's degree
- A background in competitive team environments; athletic, academic, musical, or otherwise. We've found that people who've competed at a high level tend to bring the same drive and coachability to this role
Compensation
$65-70k base. OTE $75-85k (bonus structure)
