Job Summary:
The Ground Person supports the safe, efficient operation of the crushing plant, yard, and related equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining material flow, performing routine plant and yard maintenance, operating mobile equipment as assigned, and completing welding and fabrication repairs.
Essential Functions:
1. Protect family and friends. Support safe, consistent production by assisting with the operation of crushing, screening, conveying, and material-handling equipment.
2. Focused. Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready plant and yard to reduce hazards, downtime, and material loss.
3. Mastery. Ensure mobile equipment is operated safely and effectively to maintain material flow, manage stockpiles, and support daily production needs.
4. Respect and engage. Identify and communicate equipment, safety, and operational concerns through timely pre-shift inspections and routine monitoring.
5. Efficiency. Reduce unplanned downtime by completing assigned preventive maintenance, including lubrication, adjustments, belt changes, inspections, and minor repairs.
6. Compulsive tinkering. Restore equipment to safe operating condition by troubleshooting mechanical issues and assisting with timely repairs.
7. Results matter. Improve equipment reliability and maintain safe plant conditions through quality welding, cutting, fabrication, and structural repairs to plant equipment, guards, chutes, hoppers, trailers, and related assets.
8. Committed to serve. Support efficient plant setup, relocation, and teardown activities while ensuring equipment is properly positioned, secured, and ready for operation.
9. Ownership and caring. Protect product quality and plant performance by monitoring material flow and promptly addressing or reporting contamination, oversized material, blockages, and equipment inefficiencies.
10. Safety always wins. Maintain compliance with company safety requirements, MSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental standards at all times.
11. Communicate. Promote productive daily operations through clear communication and effective coordination with plant operators, maintenance personnel, drivers, supervisors, and other team members.
12. Mastery. Ensure accurate maintenance, inspection, and operational records are completed in a timely manner.
Requirements, Education and Experience:
- Prior experience in aggregates, crushing, asphalt, construction, quarry, mining, or a related heavy-industrial environment required.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment or plant machinery required.
- Welding and fabrication experience required, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and basic structural repairs.
- MSHA certification or willingness and ability to obtain required training.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment, elevated work areas, conveyors, and heavy materials.
- Experience operating heavy equipment is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, work orders, safety procedures, and basic diagrams.
- Valid drivers license required
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.

Travel:
Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and or a negligible amount of force constant to move objects. Job involves sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and bending for brief periods of time in all types of weather. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors.
