VETERANS OUTREACH & FUNDRAISING ASSOCIATE

Help Build a National Veterans Project

For more than 30 years, Equal Justice America has expanded access to justice by funding law students and attorneys working with legal aid and civil rights organizations across the country.

More than 6,800 EJA Fellows have provided legal assistance to people who otherwise could not afford it. In the process, Equal Justice America has helped launch the next generation of public interest lawyers.

Now we're looking for a veteran to help build the next phase of that work: a national Veterans Project dedicated to expanding access to civil legal assistance for veterans.

EJA has supported law students and attorneys working on veterans' rights issues for many years. In recent years, that commitment has expanded through post-graduate Veterans' Rights Fellowships. Those Fellows have helped veterans secure disability benefits, prevent foreclosure and eviction, resolve consumer and financial problems, obtain health care, and overcome countless other civil legal challenges.

Over the past 30 years, Equal Justice America has built a nationwide community of lawyers committed to expanding access to justice. We believe there is an opportunity to build a similar community of veterans who will rally around the idea of helping fellow veterans obtain the legal assistance they need.

This is a relationship-building and fundraising position.

During your first year, your primary responsibility will be outreach and fundraising. You'll spend much of your time speaking with veterans, veteran-owned businesses, and supporters across the country, building relationships and inviting them to become part of a nationwide community dedicated to helping fellow veterans obtain the legal assistance they need.

You'll help build the Veterans Project one conversation, one donor, and one relationship at a time.

We're looking for someone who embraces the challenge of building something from the ground up and wants to play a meaningful role in its future growth.

The Veterans Project is built on a simple idea: just as lawyers have rallied for more than 30 years to expand access to justice, we believe veterans will rally around the opportunity to help fellow veterans obtain the legal assistance they need. If you believe in that vision, we'd love to hear from you.

The ideal candidate is:

· A U.S. military veteran

· A strong communicator who enjoys talking with people

· Comfortable building relationships over the phone

· Self-motivated and entrepreneurial

· Interested in building something meaningful

· Excited by the opportunity to grow with a developing national program

Fundraising, sales, recruiting, business development, nonprofit, outreach, or customer relationship experience is helpful but not required.

Full-time. Remote. Starting salary: $50,000 plus performance-based bonuses.

As the Veterans Project grows, the person who helps build its initial donor base will have opportunities for increasing responsibility, leadership, and compensation.

To apply, please submit a résumé, cover letter, and references to [email protected].

In your cover letter, please tell us about your military background, your professional experience, and why this opportunity interests you.
