Job Description:

The Material Handler performs a combination of product handling and lift truck operating duties to stack, transport, and store work-in-process and finished goods. This position is responsible for maintaining the unloading of all inbound freight, identifying, labeling, weighing, and placing material into racks/storage accordingly.  This role will support the loading of outbound freight daily when necessary and will use a handheld device to perform daily tasks.    

  • Follow all established safety, health and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices
  • Perform a safety lift truck inspection and battery check and report any equipment malfunctioning or damage
  • Load and unload trucks using a forklift
  • Verify paperwork matches physical freight received
  • Re-stack materials on new skids as needed for safe storage
  • Maintain paperwork for inventory control
  • Work hand in hand with the receiving clerk to manage all daily receiving activities
  • Update computerized inventory data
  • Operate stand-up lifts or sit-down forklift to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area
  • Cross-train to increase the knowledge, flexibility, and efficiency of the overall ITW team
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards
  • Contributes to team effort by focusing on continuous improvement and success for the entire team
  • All other duties as assigned by manager
