Legal Practice Assistant

Baltimore, MD 21202-1036, US Temporary
Compensation: $23.75 to $28.75 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to provide contract support to a busy Real Estate and Transactional Finance team in Baltimore, Maryland. This Contract position is well suited for someone who is highly organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable managing multiple administrative and document-based tasks in a legal environment. The role combines practice support for attorneys with day-to-day coordination of matter intake, billing activities, filings, and client-related documentation.

Responsibilities:
• Draft, revise, proofread, and distribute legal and business documents using Microsoft Office and related legal software tools.
• Support attorneys with administrative coordination, including preparing files, scanning records, arranging mailings, and assembling electronic and physical document packages.
• Open new client matters and initiate conflict review procedures to help ensure timely file setup and compliance with firm protocols.
• Enter attorney time, prepare invoice requests, and work closely with finance personnel to support accurate client billing and payment processing.
• Manage electronic filing and document organization tasks while maintaining clear, accessible records within document management systems.
• Coordinate scheduling needs such as meetings and virtual conferencing, helping attorneys and clients stay aligned on key deadlines and discussions.
• Assist with real estate and transactional finance matters by organizing supporting documents and helping maintain accuracy across deal-related materials.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in a law firm environment, with direct exposure to real estate and transactional finance work.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong editing and proofreading ability with a consistent focus on accuracy and detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with new matter intake and client file opening procedures.
• Familiarity with attorney time entry systems; experience with comparable legal timekeeping platforms is preferred.
• Experience coordinating meetings through Zoom and working with document management systems such as NetDocuments or similar platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with attorneys, clients, and internal business teams.

Compensation

$23.75-$28.75 Hourly
