Compensation: $65 to $80 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Mortgage Operations Subject Matter Expert to support mortgage servicing compliance and reconciliation activities for a Contract position based in Blue Ash, Ohio. This role focuses on reviewing servicing-related financial activity, validating investor reporting, and identifying issues that affect account accuracy and control effectiveness. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, mortgage servicing expertise, and the ability to manage detailed work in a fast-paced environment. This role can be remote in the EST/CST timezones.


Responsibilities:

• Review mortgage servicing account activity across custodial, escrow, remittance, and payoff functions to confirm accuracy and compliance with established requirements.

• Perform detailed reconciliations between servicing platform records, bank activity, general ledger balances, and investor reporting outputs to identify and resolve variances.

• Analyze large volumes of financial and operational data to detect breaks, aging items, process gaps, and potential control deficiencies.

• Investigate discrepancies through structured root cause analysis and prepare clear recommendations to support corrective action and long-term remediation.

• Use advanced Excel techniques, including formulas, pivot tables, and comparison methods, to organize data and support reconciliation reporting.

• Support oversight of agency and private investor reporting processes by validating data integrity, completeness, and timeliness of submissions.

• Prepare organized, audit-ready documentation that clearly explains findings, supporting evidence, and recommended next steps for review by stakeholders.

• Contribute to remediation efforts involving complex or aged unreconciled items, including prioritization, tracking, and resolution support across high-volume populations.


Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in mortgage servicing, investor accounting, treasury operations, reconciliations, or related servicing operations.
• Strong knowledge of custodial accounts, escrow activity, principal and interest remittances, advances, payoffs, and investor reporting practices.
• Proven ability to reconcile servicing data against bank accounts, ledger balances, and investor-facing reports with a high degree of accuracy.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis techniques used for reconciliations and exception review.
• Experience working with mortgage servicing platforms such as MSP, Sagent LoanServ, Fiserv, or comparable servicing systems.
• Demonstrated skill in identifying operational issues, evaluating control weaknesses, and documenting remediation recommendations.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Experience in audit, consulting, public accounting, or large-scale custodial reconciliation projects is preferred.

Compensation

$65.00-$80.00 Hourly
