Budget Analyst

We are looking for a Budget Analyst to support financial planning and budget oversight for a long-term contract opportunity based in Downey, California. This position focuses on developing, reviewing, and maintaining operating budgets while helping stakeholders make informed financial decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and experience guiding budget activities in a structured environment.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain annual operating budget plans to support organizational financial objectives.
• Review budget submissions for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with approved funding guidelines.
• Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to improve financial control.
• Partner with internal teams to prepare forecasts, budget updates, and supporting financial reports.
• Track approved budgets and help ensure expenditures remain consistent with authorized allocations.
• Contribute to budget management activities by organizing data, validating assumptions, and supporting planning cycles.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with budget processes in a finance or public sector environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of annual budget preparation and ongoing budget management practices.
• Ability to analyze annual operating budgets and interpret financial data accurately.
• Experience reviewing and supporting approved budgets and related financial documentation.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets and financial reporting tools used for budget analysis.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain budget information clearly to stakeholders.

Compensation

$38.00-$40.00 Hourly
