Project Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Establish new project and contract records in the accounting system and confirm financial setup aligns with scope and billing terms.
• Examine budgets, client agreements, and invoicing provisions to support accurate project financial management.
• Track labor, expenses, overall costs, and margin performance to help keep projects financially on course.
• Facilitate recurring team check-ins to align on priorities, timelines, and key deliverables.
• Generate and issue client invoices in accordance with contract terms and agreed billing schedules.
• Monitor receivables, identify overdue balances, and coordinate follow-up efforts with project leaders and clients when needed.
• Process contract updates, change orders, and amendments while maintaining accurate financial records.
• Maintain an up-to-date project schedule with critical dates and reporting deadlines.
• Reconcile project charges, research cost discrepancies, and help resolve budget variances.
• Provide support for audits, accounts payable activities, and related accounting tasks while preserving complete project documentation.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.• At least 3 to 5 years of project accounting experience, ideally in engineering, architecture, construction, or detail-focused services environments.
• Hands-on experience with project accounting platforms such as Deltek Vision, Deltek Vantagepoint, Ajera, CMiC, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
• Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with pivot tables, lookup functions, and financial reporting tools.
• Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities in a deadline-driven setting.
• High attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy in financial data and documentation.
• Ability to balance multiple assignments effectively while maintaining clear communication across teams.
Compensation
