Collections Specialist

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join a wholesale distribution organization in Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role is ideal for someone who can balance strong customer service with a confident approach to recovering outstanding business-to-business receivables. The right candidate will build productive client relationships, resolve payment issues efficiently, and support healthy cash flow through consistent follow-up and account management.

Responsibilities:
• Manage a portfolio of commercial accounts and follow up on overdue balances through phone, email, and written correspondence.
• Communicate professionally with customers to research payment status, address disputes, and secure timely resolution of outstanding invoices.
• Maintain detailed records of collection activity, customer commitments, and account updates to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
• Work closely with internal teams to investigate billing questions and resolve issues that may delay payment.
• Negotiate practical payment arrangements when appropriate while protecting company standards and collection goals.
• Review aging reports regularly to prioritize accounts, reduce delinquency, and improve overall receivables performance.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in collections with a focus on commercial or business-to-business accounts.
• Ability to deliver strong customer service while confidently requesting payment and managing difficult conversations.
• Knowledge of standard collection practices, account follow-up procedures, and receivables management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a detail-oriented and respectful approach.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when documenting account activity.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts efficiently and follow through on commitments in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$19.00-$22.00 Hourly
