Sr. Research Financial Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Research Financial Analyst to support the financial administration of sponsored research programs in Brookline, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position will focus on post-award grant management, combining detailed financial oversight with reporting, analysis, billing coordination, and accounts receivable follow-up. The role is ideal for someone who understands the financial and compliance requirements tied to research funding and can work effectively in a collaborative, well-supported team environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the post-award financial activity for sponsored research accounts, ensuring charges, balances, and transactions are reviewed accurately throughout the grant lifecycle.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for research funds, identifying variances, trends, and items that require follow-up or corrective action.
• Support billing-related processes for sponsored programs and monitor outstanding receivables to help maintain timely collection and accurate account status.
• Review transactional financial activity with an analytical mindset, resolving discrepancies while maintaining compliance with research funding guidelines.
• Partner with managers, analysts, and leadership to maintain effective financial operations across a high-volume research portfolio.
• Assist with grant-related account monitoring and documentation to help ensure alignment with institutional standards and sponsor requirements.
• Contribute to implementation-related financial support activities when needed, particularly where research finance processes or reporting structures require coordination.
• Provide clear financial insight and operational support to internal stakeholders involved in research administration and sponsored program oversight.

Qualifications:

• Experience in financial analysis with strong exposure to post-award research grant administration.
• Knowledge of sponsored research compliance requirements and the financial controls associated with grant funding.
• Ability to prepare, interpret, and explain financial reports for complex accounts or funded programs.
• Background handling billing support, accounts receivable follow-up, and transaction-level financial review.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and recommend appropriate resolutions.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative team structure and partnering with leadership on research finance activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in a university, academic medical, or research-driven environment is highly valued.

Compensation

$38.00-$45.00 Hourly
