Cost Accounting Manager
Responsibilities:
• Develop and review profitability reporting across product lines, delivering clear analysis of sales and margin performance to support leadership decisions.
• Examine inventory and manufacturing results to identify variances, explain trends, and highlight issues affecting production costs and financial performance.
• Assess and support reserve calculations related to excess and obsolete inventory, shrinkage, consignment, demonstration units, warranty exposure, and royalty obligations.
• Oversee the effectiveness of the inventory cycle count process through regular audits and follow-up on discrepancies or control gaps.
• Manage standard cost maintenance, coordinate annual cost updates, and perform ongoing reviews of cost rollups, sourcing classifications, and item planning data to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare recurring inventory and cost reports for operations leadership and contribute financial insight to initiatives focused on cost savings, process discipline, and internal controls.
• Record and reconcile monthly accounting entries tied to inventory balances and cost of goods sold, ensuring timely and accurate financial close activities.
• Investigate inventory transactions assigned to suspense accounts and complete appropriate analysis and reclassification to maintain clean and reliable records.
• Administer fixed asset accounting, maintain supporting records, and complete required annual business property reporting.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecast updates while also preparing research and development expense reporting by project for tax credit support and strategic analysis.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing setting.• Strong background in manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing methodologies and cost analysis.
• Experience analyzing inventory activity, production variances, and cost of sales impacts.
• Knowledge of inventory controls, reserve accounting, and cycle count audit practices.
• Ability to prepare budgets, forecasts, journal entries, and management reports with a high level of accuracy.
• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and business property reporting requirements.
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial results and communicate findings to operational leaders.
Compensation
