Collections Specialist

Robert Half is partnering with a growing commercial services company in Cheshire, CT to identify an experienced Collections Specialist for a contract assignment. This role is responsible for managing outstanding accounts receivable balances, communicating with customers regarding overdue invoices, and helping improve overall cash flow through effective collection efforts.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a professional demeanor, and prior experience in business-to-business collections.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances
• Contact customers by phone and email regarding overdue invoices and payment status
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues
• Maintain detailed collection notes and account records
• Reconcile customer accounts and identify aging balances requiring follow-up
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve customer concerns and disputes
• Prepare aging reports and provide collection status updates
• Monitor payment arrangements and ensure timely follow-up
• Assist with reducing past-due receivables and improving collection performance
• Support other accounts receivable and accounting functions as needed

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
• 2+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience
• Experience with business-to-business collections preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems
• Strong negotiation and customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Professional and persistent approach to collections
