Accountant - Entry Level

We are looking for an entry-level accounting specialist to support a legal organization with a short-term contract assignment in New York, New York. In this role, you will help improve the accuracy of financial records by reviewing receipt activity, organizing payment data, and confirming that client transactions are properly reflected. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working in Excel, and able to contribute quickly to a focused accounting project expected to last approximately one day.

Responsibilities:
• Examine cash receipt records and organize financial data in Excel for efficient review and follow-up.
• Compare incoming client payments against outstanding invoices to confirm correct application of funds.
• Investigate variances in payment posting and highlight issues that require correction or clarification.
• Update accounting records to ensure receipt information is complete, accurate, and current.
• Support reconciliation efforts by validating transaction details across invoices, receipts, and related documentation.
• Assist with daily cash receipt processing tasks tied to the cleanup of existing accounting data.

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting accounting operations in areas such as accounts receivable, cash application, or payment reconciliation.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to sort, filter, review, and organize large sets of financial information.
• Working knowledge of account reconciliation and financial record maintenance.
• Familiarity with daily cash receipts and matching payments to invoices.
• High attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to contribute effectively in a fast-paced, short-duration Contract assignment within a legal environment.

Compensation

$19.95-$23.10 Hourly
