Senior Accountant
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee all day-to-day accounting operations and serve as our client's primary in-house accounting professional. This is a highly visible role that works closely with firm leadership to provide accurate financial reporting, meaningful financial analysis, and strategic insight while partnering with external accounting and tax advisors. The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable managing the full accounting cycle independently in a professional services environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day accounting functions, serving as the firm's sole onsite accounting professional.
- Maintain the general ledger and perform full-cycle bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online.
- Process and manage firm disbursements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Analyze financial results and present trends, variances, and actionable recommendations to firm leadership.
- Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), financial metrics, cash flow, profitability, and other management reporting.
- Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Monitor cash flow and recommend strategies to optimize working capital.
- Maintain accounting records and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with the firm's outside accounting firm and tax CPAs on monthly reviews, year-end close, tax preparation, audits, and other financial matters.
- Support implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen financial reporting.
- Respond to financial inquiries from management and provide ad hoc reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment.
- Strong experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
- Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, and financial metrics for executive reporting.
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Experience analyzing financial performance and presenting recommendations to executive leadership.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
