Accounting and Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting and Payroll Specialist for a contract-to-possible-permanent opportunity in Birmingham, Alabama. This role will support both accounting operations and payroll administration, working closely with HR on payroll processing, employee onboarding, and orientation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Accounts Payable function on daily financial activity
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Enter and review bank transactions in the accounting system
- Assist with tracking bank and investment accounts
- Prepare profit and loss reporting for events
- Support the month-end close process from start to finish
- Process payroll from start to finish
- Partner with HR to support payroll activities, employee orientations, and onboarding
- Prepare and enter day-to-day accounting entries
- Record and reconcile credit card transactions
Qualifications:
Required Skills
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
- Experience preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Understanding of payroll processes and compliance practices
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
