Staff Accountant
We are searching for a Staff Accountant to join our client's dynamic team. This role is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions, preparing and analyzing financial reports, and supporting the organization's overall financial operations. This role works with a high degree of independence to ensure the accuracy of financial records, evaluate financial performance, monitor compliance requirements, and provide insights that support business decisions. The Staff Accountant also collaborates across departments and assists with projects and initiatives as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through accurate account reconciliations and ongoing account maintenance.
- Record journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries in accordance with accounting standards.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Research and resolve account variances, discrepancies, and reporting issues.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
- Analyze financial trends, costs, revenues, and expenditures to assist with forecasting and budgeting efforts.
- Prepare and submit sales tax, property tax, and other required regulatory filings.
- Assist with corporate tax reporting, supporting documentation, and audit requests.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Research accounting, tax, and regulatory matters and provide recommendations as needed.
- Track daily cash activity and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding reconciling items.
- Support treasury operations, including wire transfers and banking relationships.
- Prepare cash management reports and assist with liquidity planning and analysis.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Record asset acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and retirements.
- Perform periodic reconciliations and assist with physical asset inventory reviews.
- Ensure adherence to capitalization and fixed asset accounting policies.
- Review and analyze bad debt reserves and recommend write-offs when appropriate.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve outstanding discrepancies.
- Review vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment requests for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide support to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Assist with special projects and provide support across various finance and accounting functions as required.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is Finance/Accounting or related field, Will consider a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant Finance and Accounting experience is required
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office including MS Excel, Word, Teams, and other software applications
- Demonstrated aptitude for math and ability to perform detailed calculations and analysis.
- This work typically requires extended periods of sitting at a desk in an office environment.
- Ability to work overtime during month end / audits.
Compensation
