Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and experiments. Analyzes and interprets data, compiles results, and prepares reports. Maintains inventory, ordering, and logs. Writes manuscripts and grant proposals and prepares data visualizations.


Essential Functions

The Research technician will carry out essential research support functions in the laboratory conducting work primarily focused on mouse genetics, molecular biology and tissue analysis, as well as mouse behavior, and cell culture. Some of these functions include:

  • Working with transgenic mouse lines and performing mouse surgical procedures.
  • Animal colony husbandry, which includes genotyping and overall colony maintenance
  • Wide range of basic molecular biology experiments (such as PCR, cloning, etc.)
  • Preparing tissue for histological and immunohistochemical analysis, and performing microscopy.
  • Performing mouse behavioral testing and analysis.
  • Performing standard laboratory experimental tests and procedures such as preparing complex chemical solutions and media.
  • Maintaining experimental matter, requiring knowledge of laboratory techniques.

Recording results of experiments according to standard laboratory techniques
